UAE withdraws additional Nestlé baby product

The UAE has announced the withdrawl of an additional Nestlé infant milk product, the S26 AR GOLD, to its recent voluntary precautionary recall due to the presence of toxin-forming bacteria.

The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) specified the concerned batches of the product, which is generally used under medical supervision only.

The confirmed batch numbers include "5185080661, 5271080661, and 5125080661".

The withdrawl was initiated after traces of the bacterium "Bacillus cereus" were detected in a production input. This bacterium has the potential to produce the "cereulide" toxin, which may cause foodborne illness and gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

All affected batches present in distributor warehouses have been secured, according to the establishment, with efforts to withdraw any remaining products from the market, both online and offline.

In response to the recall, Nestlé has also implemented user-friendly digital tools to help UAE consumers easily verify product batches and initiate refund or replacement requests.

Previously, the establishment had recalled batches of the NAN Comfort 1, NAN OPTIPRO 1, NAN SUPREME PRO 1, 2, 3, S-26 Ultima 1, 2, 3, and Alfamino.

The additional recall follows shortly after the UAE had collected samples of Nestlé-branded baby formula products for quality analysis.
