UAE's highest restaurant temporarily suspends service

RAK Leisure

Restaurant 1484 By Puro, located on Ras Al Khaimah's Jebel Jais mountain, has temporarily suspended services, citing "strengthened restrictions" to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Since opening last October, the outlet has welcomed a steady stream of customers to its location at 1,484 metres above sea level, making it the highest food establishment in the country.

"In light of the strengthened restrictions put in place to ensure the wellbeing of all visitors to Ras Al Khaimah, and in our ongoing pursuit to ensure that our guests have the best possible experience, we have decided to temporarily close 1484 By Puro on Jebel Jais," a statement from the owners, RAK Leisure, explained.

Guests will be offered "an alternative and unique outdoor pop-up dining experience in an equally spectacular location, ideal for social distancing" until the new larger space is finalised.

"We see this as an opportune time to enhance our offering and reconfigure and expand the space to create an even more memorable dining experience."

The Toroverde Adventure Centre will also be moved to "a temporary spot so not to disturb our Jebel Jais Flight customers while the work is taking place."
