UN commends UAE's disaster risk reduction strategy

The United Nations has praised the UAE’s disaster management strategy, calling it the perfect role model for others in the region.

The Director of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction told national news agency WAM that the Emirates has been taking the lead in implementing international policies.

Kirsi Madi has also hailed the UAE’s efforts to rebuild cities affected by disasters around the world.

She added that the indirect economic losses from global disasters have exceeded US$3 trillion (over AED 11 trillion) in the past two decades.
