Watch: Abu Dhabi trials 'recharge stations' for delivery riders

Abu Dhabi Media Office

Abu Dhabi has launched the trial operation of dedicated resting zones for delivery bike riders.

The Delivery Riders Hub offers access to specially designed shaded waiting areas with air-conditioned seating and drinking water as well as phone charging stations.

Riders will also have access to motorbike parking spaces in close proximity to restaurants and cafes, which will help reduce chances of traffic violations and also contribute to quicker food deliveries.

The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) said these spaces can serve as valuable venues for advertising and promotional opportunities, further solidifying the city's reputation as a smart city.

"We are firmly dedicated to improving the quality of life for all residents in the emirate by taking their individual needs into account, and we remain committed to consistently evaluating and fulfilling those needs," said Hamda Abdullah Al Hashemi, Acting Director of the DMT's Urban Design Division.
