FC Barcelona have endured their worst La Liga loss in seven years, thanks to Celta de Vigo’s very comfortable 4-1 home win against the champions. It had been seven months and two days since Barca had lost in La Liga – that’s an impressive run of 18 matches, during which Lionel Messi and co. failed to win just twice. However, this ended Wednesday night as goals by Nolito, Iago Aspas (2) and John Guidetti were answered with only one by Neymar. It had been seven years and four months since Barca lost a La Liga match by three goals, and that was against Real Madrid. With Madrid beating Athletic Bilbao 2-1, and Villarreal beating Malaga 1-0, Barca have been pushed down three spots in the league table, going from second to fifth.
