Eva Carneiro leaves Chelsea following Mourinho row

The Chelsea doctor who was involved in a very public spat with manager Jose Mourinho has left her job. Eva Carneiro is now said to be consulting lawyers about a possible claim for constructive dismissal against the English Premier League (EPL) champions. The British sports medic and her colleague Jon Fearn were heavily criticised by Mourinho when they went on the pitch at Stamford Bridge to treat star player Eden Hazard. It was during Chelsea’s August 8 season opener against Swansea, which ended in a 2-2 draw. The team were down to 10 men at the time and it meant Hazard had to leave the pitch, briefly leaving them with just nine players. Mourinho later questioned Dr Carneiro’s knowledge of football, saying: "I wasn't happy with my medical staff because even if you are a medical doctor or secretary on the bench, you have to understand the game. “If you go to the pitch to assist a player, then you must be sure that a player has a serious problem. I was sure that Eden didn't have a serious problem. He had a knock and was very tired. “My medical department left me with eight fit outfield players in a counter attack after a set piece and we were worried we didn't have enough players left.” Meanwhile, FA board member Heather Rabbatts has said the news of Dr Carneiro's apparent departure made her "feel sadness and anger”. "Eva was one of the few very senior women in the game, a highly respected doctor who has acted with professional integrity in difficult circumstances and whose skills have been highly praised by her colleagues, the club and governing bodies,” said Rabbatts.
