His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, met with Northern Irish golf star Rory McIlroy ahead of the DP World Tour Championship, running from November 13 to 16.

Sheikh Hamdan congratulated McIlroy on his remarkable career, including six Race to Dubai titles, and wished him success in his 14th appearance at the season-ending event.

McIlroy praised Dubai’s role in global golf and the Dubai Fitness Challenge, highlighting its role in inspiring people of all ages to stay active.

The five-time Major Champion leads the Race to Dubai Rankings and aims for another DP World Tour Championship title this week in the city where he has achieved some of his greatest career milestones.

"Dubai has always held a special place in both my career and my life. I won my first professional title here at the Dubai Desert Classic in 2009, I’ve won more tournaments in Dubai than in any other city in the world, and I even called it home for several years," said McIlroy.

"One of my earliest commercial partners was Jumeirah, so in many ways, Dubai has been part of my journey from the very beginning," he added.
