The Gujarat Lions secured an emphatic win in their first game in the Indian Premier League, beating Kings XI Punjab by five wickets in Mohali. Batting first, they got off to a good start with openers Manan Vohra and Murali Vijay enjoying a 50-run partnership. However, the momentum shifted when Ravindra Jadeja removed them in consecutive overs, before Dwayne Bravo took 4 wickets for just 22 runs. Bravo became the first player to pass 300 T20 wickets, as Gujarat restricted Punjab to 161 for 6. With the ball, Punjab had Brendon McCullum stumped in the first over, but Aaron Finch’s 74 guided Gujarat to their victory target of 162 with 14 balls remaining.
