Former UEFA president Michel Platini has reportedly been arrested over the decision to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar.
The 63-year-old has been detained in Paris as part of the investigation into alleged corruption surrounding the hosting rights for the event.
French investigative journalism organisation Mediapart says he was taken into custody on Tuesday morning.
Platini was UEFA president between 2007 and 2015 when he was banned by FIFA from all football-related activity until 2023 after being found guilty of a series of ethical breaches.
