Serena Williams confirms Dubai attendance

Serena Williams will return to the Emirate next month after missing last year's Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships through illness.

Serena Williams will headline a stellar WTA line-up for this year’s Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, which take place between February 15-27th. The world number one missed last year’s event through illness but is one of five top 10 women to announce their participation next month. Along with Williams, the line-up includes world number three Garbiñe Muguruza, world number four and 2012 Dubai champion Agnieszka Radwanska, Lucie Safarova and Angelique Kerber. As well as former world number ones Ana Ivanovic and Caroline Wozniacki, who are also heading to Dubai. The ATP men’s entry list will be finalised in the coming days, but organisers are expecting seven-time winner and reigning champion Roger Federer to be back to defend his title, as well as world number one and four-time Dubai champion Novak Djokovic. Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman of Dubai Duty Free, the tournament owners and organisers, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming the world’s best players back to Dubai. "This year is shaping up to be another hotly contested tournament and we are looking forward to another great fortnight of superb tennis action”. Dubai Eye is the official radio partner and will be broadcasting daily from the Championships across each day.
