New Zealand secured their place in the semi-finals of the World Twenty20, with victory over Pakistan. The Black Caps won by 22-runs in Mohali, to make it three-wins-out-of-three at the tournament. Batting first, Martin Guptill’s 80 off 48 balls helped them to a score of 180-5 on a good wicket. Sharjeel Khan led Pakistan’s response with a quick 47, but spin bowlers Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi stalled their momentum with the timely wickets of Khalid Latif, Ahmed Shehzad and Shahid Afridi. Pakistan eventually finished on 158-5. New Zealand are top of Group 2 with one game remaining, against Bangladesh in Kolkata on Saturday. Pakistan are currently second, level on points with Australia and India having played a game more, and have their final match against Australia on Friday.
