The UAE Public Prosecution has expanded its investigation into the publication of the false report claiming explosions were heard in central Dubai.

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has led messages on social media to mark Union Pledge Day, "renewing commitment to the principles of unity established by the late Sheikh Zayed and his brothers".

After Dubai Media Office confirmed that a Reuters report about explosions in Downtown area is false, the news agency issued a statement admitting it "regrets" publishing the story as it "did not meet its standards".
