Etihad Airways has extended its flight cancellations between Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia until Saturday, October 24, because of regional disruption.
All flights between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh, and between Abu Dhabi and Dammam, are cancelled until then. Etihad had earlier cancelled them until Sunday, October 18.
Four Jeddah services are also cancelled for the same period: EY601 and EY603 from Abu Dhabi to Jeddah, and EY602 and EY604 from Jeddah to Abu Dhabi. Under the earlier notice, two of these ran until October 18 and the other two until October 19.
The airline says “the situation remains dynamic and further changes are possible.”
Passengers are advised to check their flight status at etihad.com. They can find local phone numbers and live chat on the airline’s Contact Us page.
Etihad apologised for the disruption. It says its teams are helping affected passengers rebook their travel, and that the safety of guests and crew is its top priority.
UAE carriers began cancelling flights to Saudi Arabia after an attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport on Saturday, October 10. Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority said 12 people were killed and 309 injured in the attack.
The authority later extended the suspension of operations at the airport following repeated attacks.
flydubai cancelled flights to several Saudi destinations, including Riyadh, Dammam and Abha, up to and including Monday, October 19. Its website shows flights from Dubai to Riyadh scheduled for Tuesday, October 20.
