UAE operates first rail service between Abu Dhabi and Al Dhannah

WAM

Etihad Rail operated its first rail journey between the cities of Abu Dhabi and Al Dhannah on Thursday.

Once operational, the service, which is currently under development, will enable ADNOC's staff and contractors to travel between the two destinations.

"The Etihad Rail project is more than just a rail network, it will serve as a vital artery for economic growth and infrastructure development while driving decarbonisation, for the benefit of the UAE and its people," highlighted Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and CEO of ADNOC, who took the maiden trip along with his team.

He later toured ADNOC's facilities in Al Ruwais Industrial City.

"I am proud of our world-class facilities in Al Ruwais Industrial City... Our facilities and expert workforce play a pivotal role in enhancing our nation’s status as a responsible and reliable global energy leader," he added.

The rail service, integral to ADNOC's strategic partnership with Etihad Rail, already transports sulphur and will bolster economic resilience, local resource utilisation, and job creation in the UAE.
